This is my favorite release by a criminally underrated American black metal project. The astonishing musicianship (this was a one-person band), the way the dense howl of vocals and strings contrast with the spacey 80s Joe Hisaishi keys, the unusual and endlessly creative ways the drum machine is utilized - there's still nothing quite like Petrychor, even now. I've listened to 'Planets Born of Human Ash' a hundred times and the percussion still blows my mind. Cheers, and thanks for the music.

After listening to Ysyry Mollvün, listening to Downfall of Nur was urgent and turned out to be one of the best decisions I have made in quite some time: Umbras de Barbagia is simply magisterial; the atmosphere can hardly be compared to anything else. There is a deep, palpable connection to nature imbueing each very fibre of this record. The amalgamation of black metal and folk elements is done with a high intuition for detail and class, resulting in a highly immersive experience. Wonderful.

This has got to be my favorite atmospheric black metal song of all time. The way it has what I assume is synth mixed with those perfectly visceral vocals just well it makes me weirdly emotional.
